Needle Carb Fuel Mapper™

Mikuni Needle & Needle Jet Assembly Module Instructions

Be aware - the published data sets for Mikuni needles are not at all accurate... in particular, the taper diameters at the Mikuni reference points.

The Needle Carb Fuel Mapper™ mathematically calculates the single taper needle dimensions from the published 'needle land' diameter, and 'taper start' dimension.

Presuming that these two dimension are correct, the Needle Carb Fuel Mapper™ will provide the accurate dimensions for engine tuning purposes.

-----------------------------

Dual taper needles (indicated by two letters in the needle name), require that their dimensions be confirmed - in particular the needle tip diameter.

The fuel mapper displays dual taper needles as single tapers, from the taper start, to the tip - thereby providing a simple starting guide rather than an accurate map.

Dual taper needles are excellent for controlling fuel delivery for 'ideal fuel consumption figures according to regional requirements', but are difficult to tune.

By changing to single tapers, a vast array of tuning options is opened up, providing progressive fuel flow change.

Determine a comparable needle, and dial in the main jet and idle circuit - this to establish a start point for further fine tuning.

General Guide
... is just that.

Unlike Dellorto, which specifically links components to carb bodies... for Mikuni we get general guidance.

The atomiser tubes are long, and hence why a broad range of needles can be used.

However, when working with the longest needles, confirm that the throttle slider has full range of movement.
